SheLEADS was born from a simple truth: Black women deserve more than workarounds. More than guidance on how to survive a system that was never built for them. They deserve a system that changes — and the power, leadership, and tools to help change it.
SheLEADS builds the infrastructure for community-driven systems change — equipping women, peer navigators, community organizations, healthcare providers, and advocates with the knowledge, tools, partnerships, and leadership needed to transform breast cancer care.
We strengthen community capacity, build trusted healthcare-community partnerships, educate providers, and advance policy, systems, and environmental strategies that make equity the standard — not the exception.
From lived experience to leadership.

The goal is simple: to build a more equitable, culturally responsive breast cancer care system — one where communities have the power, partnerships, and infrastructure to create lasting change.
Because no one should have to navigate cancer alone — and no system should make it this hard.

cancer subtype.
Black women have the highest breast cancer mortality rate among major U.S. racial and ethnic groups.

SHE North Carolina / SHE LEADS NC – SheLEADs launched in the Raleigh-Durham metro and has expanded to active programming in Halifax County, Wilmington, Fayetteville, and the NC/SC border region including Dillon, SC.
Each pinned site represents a community where Black women are receiving direct peer navigation support, where healthcare providers are receiving equity training, and communties are coming together to support system change.
